In 1965 the business acquired the Pentonville Wheel Works and started building and repairing wheels. At around this time Alf ventured into the world of drag racing, creating his own legendary 1000cc V twin supercharged Nitro Methane injected Jap engined special. He was to become the first person in Europe to break the 9 second and 200 mph barrier for the 1/4 mile. For a long time Alf dominated the sport until he decided to call it a day and concentrate on the business.

In 1985 one of Alf's suppliers Girling Shock Absorbers, decided to stop production and he acquired the tooling for this product range. The Hagon brand of shock absorbers was then created.

The business is now run by his son Martin, also a successful racer having competed at the highest level in both Grasstrack and Sidecar Cross. The business has recently moved from its Leyton shop to a modern factory in Hainault where Hagon Products continue to expand its shock absorber and wheel business. The factory is equipped with up to date CNC machinery and produces the majority of the components for the shock absorbers in house.
